Does anyone have any additional tips? Perhaps someone could help me identify possible conflicting USB devices that are safe to uninstall? Or possible conflicting software? Based on previous posts in this thread, is it possibly because I'm using the laptop screen? Nvidia GPU activity seems to indicate that even when I'm just using that screen the 1080 is still being utilized rather than the intel CPU integrated or internal nvidia card, but it's always been difficult for me to determine how accurate that is. I am not using beta versions of anything. Steam and steamvr are installed in default locations and I did an integrity check on steamvr. I also tried usbdeview but most of everything listed is either necessary or too cryptic to identify. As per the troubleshooting wizard mentioned above and some threads on reddit I have completely removed AVG including using their removal utility to make sure it's completely eradicated (since it's now basically the same as avast). Can you post a SteamVR system report from when its in this broken state To obtain one of these, click the SteamVR menu, Create System Report and then Copy to Clipboard or Save to File and post the results somewhere. I have an alienware 13 r2 and my rift is connected through a graphics amplifier which houses a gtx 1080. I am gettting the shared IPC compositor connect failed (306) error every time I attempt to launch steamvr despite the fact that oculus home and all apps within it that I have tried work. I figured I'd see if anyone on this thread could help me before plunging into steam support.
